Academic Support

We attract students who want to succeed in their studies. Our students consistently perform well at university and many have won academic awards.

 

Our collegiate culture means that everyone helps each other to achieve their best. We have students across all faculties and stages of study, and you’re bound to find a friend to study with in one of our many study rooms.

 

Our six residential academic tutors have strong academic records, experience at tutoring and are senior college residents. They provide personal and group study sessions to support:

 

  • Study skills, time management, essay writing, job applications
  • Maths, physics, computer science, psychology, biology and medicine
  • Shalom College students study a variety of courses including medicine, engineering, commerce, computer science.
  • We also have students studying arts, social science, education, social work, advanced science, drama.
  • Our students are across stages of study from first year students right to post graduate residents.

Meet the Academic Tutors

Tim Liu

Tim

Tim is in his 5th year of Medicine and can assist with various Med subjects as well as exam prep, time management and study planning.

Suwetha Radhakrishnan

Suwetha

Suwetha is a 5th year Medicine student from Singapore. She can assist with a range of medical subjects and courses related to clinical skills and patient interaction. She can also assist with academic skills and proof-reading.

Fai Chan (College webite)

Fai

Fai is in her final year of Software Engineering. She can assist with engineering, maths, comp sci and software Eng courses. Fai is from Hong Kong.

Sammy

Sammy

Sammy is completing her Commerce degree with majors in Accounting and Finance and can assist with many of these courses as well as assisting with organisation, study plans and MS Excel. She is from South Africa.

Darren Melvison (College webite)

Darren

Darren is from Indonesia and is studying Computer Science and Finance/ Commerce and can assist with these.

Sijin Wang

Sijin

Sijin is a PhD student in Photovoltaic Engineering from China. He can assist with many engineering and physics related courses.

Chocolate Or

Chocolate

Chocolate is studying Physiotherapy and Exercise Science and can assist with essay writing and lab reports. She is from Hong Kong.

Taketo Abe (College webite)

Taketo

Taketo is completing a Masters in Civil Engineering and can assist with many Eng courses including maths and physics. He has also been a cultural mentor and assisted with English classes for International students. Taketo is from Japan.

Formal Dinners

Each semester we invite pre-eminent guest speakers to our formal dinners. These compulsory evenings are a key element of our academic and collegiate program. Our catering team prepare a special three course meal served by waiters and our residents dress in their best.
